The installation of concrete paving is a multi-step process. The first step in this process is to choose the area to be paved. Once the area is chosen, the next step is to excavate the top layer of earth. This gives us the correct, blank canvas to work from. After we excavate, we then build framing around the excavation, which will help keep the concrete only where it is supposed to go. After the framing is in place, we mix up the concrete solution and then pour it in to place; leaving it so set and harden.
After we pour your concrete in to place and it has the chance to harden, there will probably be some cleaning that needs to be done. Regular cleaning is always a good idea, as it will help to keep mold growths from forming, which can harm your concrete. Because of how rough concrete is, one of the easiest ways to clean it, is to use a hose and simply spray the concrete off. If you encounter harder to remove things, such as mold growth, use a stiff bristled broom to dislodge the growth and then go back over it with your hose.
While concrete is very sturdy on its own, there will definitely come a time when maintenance is needed. Although concrete is meant to last, it is not impervious to cracking or heaving. If the ground underneath your concrete begins to accumulate moisture, it will expand and contract. This can cause your concrete to do the same which, over time, can put undo stress on the concrete. If stress keeps pushed on your concrete paving, it will cause it to begin to crack slowly. When cracks form, we need to fill them immediately to prevent them from spreading and causing fissures.
The benefits of concrete paving are numerous. Concrete is a sturdy material, which does an incredible job at weight distribution. This means that concrete paving can regularly hold very heavy vehicles. Concrete is also good at withstanding water, which means that it can, if properly graded, drain water efficiently. Sunlight may start to discolor concrete, after prolonged exposure, but sunlight doesn’t break down concrete. Concrete paving is also very cost effective and maintenance, even if needed, won’t break the bank. Lastly, concrete is easy to clean and that cleaning can be done, by you, with little time commitments.
